I love participating in chalk festivals because it is a wonderful, forgiving medium, and I enjoy the interaction between the artists and the festival visitors.  I am originally from Santa Barbara, CA where the first street painting festival took place in the United States, so I was fortunate to have been exposed to the art form over 30 years ago.  I started participating back in 1988, and have done at least one festival, somewhere around the country, every year since.
I originally started doing exclusively classical reproductions, focusing on Italian artists to honor my Roman ancestry, and the origins of the art form.  I have since expanded on my love for portraiture through the centuries, and am now experimenting with more contemporary compositions that explore different perspectives, and expand on the relationship between street art and the viewer.  The pieces with stretched perspective are also a fun way to combine my educational background in Mechanics Engineering and my love for art.
